Present

When I was playing golf today it occurred to me that I often play golf without actually being present. Golf is a game that requires extensive focus and to stay focused one must be totally present. Present according to Dictionary.com is being, existing, or occurring at this time or now; current; immediately. The mind can only focus on one thing at a time. When I have other things on my mind, my mind switches from one thing to another trying to solve all that it is given. When I stay focused on my golf game everything feels perfect and my game becomes satisfactory.

When I began in my quest for recovery I had so many unresolved issues I was lucky to isolate a few, let alone one. When I inventory my life and look for unresolved issues I dissolve my need to think about my past and am free to be in the present.  Today, I need to work persistently in staying in the now. Even when I am not plagued by my past, I have to work hard at being here, now. God can guide me with intuition but intuition only comes when I am in the now so if I am focused on yesterday or tomorrow I am going it alone.

Being present is my primary goal in life. When I am present God is available. God is always available, so when I am focused, intuition, inspiration and insight is also available. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” Imagination is a form of intuition and intuition can become a working part of the mind once we realize where it comes from and know that it is only in the now. God is present in the present. God knows that the present is the start of everything. If you want to know how to stay in the presence remember…

About Randolph Ek

My name is Dr. Randolph Ek, Mpsy.D. I started life as one of five children of an alcoholic father. The physical and mental abuse nearly destroyed my life. In fact my self-destructive behavior nearly landed me in prison. I eventually was guided to an alcohol/drug counselor and he directed me to a rehabilitation center. Since that time I have spent more than thirty years devoted to helping people find their ultimate potential.

We can blame our negative, spiraling life on victimization but until we accept responsibility the power we need is beyond us. When we accept our part in our lives and surrender to a higher power, which I choose to call God, intervention is immediate. God allows us to realize our true power. We are all made in God’s Image and Likeness and have all the power of the universe at our disposal.

We are not victims; we are volunteers and once we believe this truth our lives become limitless. God wants us all to have our heart’s desire and he will deliver whatever we continually think about good or bad. Unless I start my day off powerless and humble I cannot make the spiritual connection required to tap into God’s limitless power.

God loves mankind and refuses to leave anyone behind. We can go willingly or we can be dragged to salvation. Pain is merely a symptom of spiritual separation mind, body and spirit. Realize, your individual limited resources, seek help, join others in their quest for spiritual understanding. Realize that all religions are right, yet they are also incomplete.
