Apprehension

Apprehension according to Dictionary.com is anticipation of adversity or misfortune; suspicion or fear of future trouble or evil. If you live your life with apprehension you are not really living. If perfection is your aim, you will never hit the bullseye.  As perfection is of God, making it a spiritual component of life, apprehension is not compatible as it is a component of fear or not God. When one spends sufficient time in the practice of prayer and meditation, one finds faith and confidence, which dissolves apprehension.

If we are performing with any level of apprehension, we cannot compete with people who are moving with faith and confidence. Apprehension, by its nature, slows us down and makes us susceptible to all the traps that fear creates. One can find a degree of confidence in many ways including experience and great support, but nothing is better in building confidence than a spiritual connection with God. We were made in God’s image and likeness so the more perfect we visualize God the more perfection we are capable of.

I have heard people say that a certain amount of fear is good. I cannot agree with this statement. Although a certain amount of apprehension is normal to the human condition it is not acceptable. The more fearless you make your life the more you will achieve. Although I know that I will suffer apprehension on occasion, it will never be acceptable for me. I am constantly trying to improve my confidence with continued personal inventories and constant prayer and meditation to get the insight only faith can deliver. If you want to know where to find your apprehension remember…

Meek

In all my years of religious and spiritual examination the line in the Bible that has never made sense to me has been, ” Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the Earth.” As a metaphysical scholar I have found clarity in this and many other statements in the Bible. Dictionary.com defines meek as humble, patient or docile, as under provocation from others, overly submissive or compliant, spiritless, tame, gentle and kind. None of these descriptions of a person’s personality would I think God would want to lead his people.

Although many of these definitions of meek would be possessed by one of God’s warriors, there must be more too meek that we are seeing. I believe that meek means malleable or open to spiritual direction. When one knows they don’t know they become humble, but humility without spiritual connection is not a positive character asset. It is the spiritual guidance that creates trust and through trust we can walk through life with a greatness that many see as arrogance but is the highest form of esteem.

Once we can humble ourselves with or without spiritual help, we become open to direction from God and we are blessed with greatness and it is this greatness that allow us to ” inherit the Earth!” I spent many early years of my existence in an ignorant state of arrogance. Once defeated by life I surrendered to God and God’s plan for the universe. My surrender provided me with humility, which opened up my superconscious mind and connected me to God. If you want to find your meekness remember…

Sharing

Do you share? Do you share anything or everything you own? Do you partake in sharing with others? Share, according to Dictionary.com, is to use, participate in, enjoy, receive, etc., jointly. The human race has become so interested in owning things that sharing has become a thing of the past. It is true in the physical world that things divided are divided yet in the spiritual world things are indivisible. God can give its all to each of us without dividing. With the idea of indivisibility sharing is a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

There are seven and a half billion people on one planet. There are enough raw materials on this one planet to see that everyone has everything they want. If we did not fear lack, there would be no lack. To fail to share is a symptom of fear and lack. i don’t give anything to someone who should get for themselves but I always willing to share as I know there is plenty for all. Believing in abundance creates abundance. Believing in lack creates lack. It is God’s job to fulfill our heart’s desire, which is whatever we believe.

I love to share. I share my time. I share my property. I share my love. I even share my problems and fears. I was told years ago that if we share our joy, our joy is doubled and if we share our problems our problems are divided. The main reason I share is that it brings me into a true understanding of God. As I am made in God’s image and likeness, the more I act in accordance with God’s wishes the more I feel a part of God. I have spent the last thirty-six years working on a conscious contact with God and now I am working on a constant, conscious contact with God. If you want to know what you should share remember…

Drive

I just returned from a hog hunt in Texas. The hunt was quite successful until the last day when my son-in-law lost his father to a massive heart attack. He was on the hunt with us after having had several heart attacks in recent months. He might have even been a bit dishonest about how well he felt in order to have his son bring him on the hunt he had dreamed about for years. He fulfilled his bucket list at a high risk to his health. I applaud his actions as I too leave my death in God’s hands while keeping my life in mine.

Do you have drive? Are there any dreams you have that are so clear and large that you are driven to a high risk? The truth about life is “NO RISK; NO REWARD”. If the length of your life is more important than the quality of it than it is driven by fear and not God. I have been driven my whole life. Before I was rewarded with my new life I was driven by fear and today I am driven by love. I love my life and am always looking for new opportunities for me, my family and anyone else who is interested in riding along.

One is not really living if one is living in fear. Being driven by love and God fills me with wonder and awe; the two emotions that God rewards me with. I am driven to know God and the universe God has rewarded me to experience. My life is a result of courageously moving forward through fear knowing that fear is merely an illusion that dissipated upon confrontation. Find your drive by losing your fear. Pray and meditate for God’s direction and care. If you want to know what drives you remember…

Brotherhood

I spend my time well balanced between aloneness and in various sizes of groups. I need the alone time to realize my relationship with God and my time with others in realization of God through them. I refer to all my outside relationships as a brotherhood. Dictionary.com defines brotherhood as many things but the definition I am referring to is the belief that all people should act with warmth and equality toward one another, regardless of differences in nationality, creed, ethnicity, etc. The more I treat everyone with love, dignity and respect the more I am behaving in a fashion that declared my spiritual oneness with God.

If we could live more in honor of our brotherhood, we would be free of war. We could live in a world with open arms and open borders. We would honor each other and the needs of others beyond our own selfish needs. When I am living in an aura of love and brotherhood I feel blessed with the presence of others instead of feeling overwhelmed. When I am comfortable with my relationships, I actually feel less stressed in my own skin also. I cannot enjoy my personal space if I don’t honor the personal space of all in the brotherhood.

I am blessed everyday with the opportunity to enhance the brotherhood through the principals I choose to follow in my daily life; love, passion, patience, tolerance, kindness, etc. I cannot claim that I am made in the image and likeness of God and act apart from God. If God is love, I cannot live in fear. If God is happiness I cannot behave with fear, worry or doubt.  To honor God is to behave as God. As a metaphysical psychologist and minister I have pledged to lead people to God in an effort to build brotherhood. If you want to know what you can do to build a better brotherhood you merely need to remember…

Physiology

According to Dictionary.com physiology is the branch of biology dealing with the functions and activities of living organisms and their parts, including all physical and chemical processes. Having a healthy metabolic state is paramount toward a great life. We must realize that to have a healthy physiology we must also have a balanced personage. As a metaphysical psychologist I realize that mind, body and spirit are indivisible. Each separate part of us is anything but separate.

The mind affects the spirit, through distraction and the body, or what the bible described as “the Temple,” directly. The body affects the mind, through poor nutrition and the spirit, through misappropriation.  The spirit, when scrutinized, can enhance the mind and the body or through spiritual neglect can leave the mind and the body malnourished. Our physiology, psyche and spirit must equally be nourished and also must be kept keen through constant exercise.

To exercise our physiology, we must maintain physical strength through weight and aerobic training. Psyche calisthenics are achieved by losing oneself through broadening one’s horizon and challenging one to constant wonder and awe. The spiritual gymnastics are constant prayer, or talking to God, and persistent meditation, or listening to God. If one has provided all aspects of one’s personage with proper nutrition and exercise, one can expect miracles to happen as a regular life experience. Entrenched

Are you entrenched? Entrenched according to Dictionary.com is to be fixed or established firmly, especially so as to prevent removal or change. This is a great move in certain military situations but in a person’s personal endeavor it is usually potential suicide. One must stay open to change in order to allow God to move us toward his need for us, which is always our ultimate potential and success. Entrenchment is usually a response to fear, which is contrary to God’s will for us. I must learn to move steadily toward my objective knowing I did enough preliminary prayer and meditation to know my goals.

I have heard that most people not only find themselves in a rut but actually decorate it. It is human to seek comfort. One must move beyond human toward spiritual and move toward change, which normally creates discomfort. Entrenchment is learning to settle. If we are made in God’s image and likeness, we must constantly be creative. Creativity is dynamic, not static. As I get older I realize how much of my life I wasted due to fear. Wasted time is never retrievable. I am trying to become less entrenched and more willing to stay in constant conscious contact with God, who guides my actions.

How do use your time? Do you have a plan even when you are resting? I try to find a moderation in my life that is not the all or nothing way I ran most of my life. When my quiet time is in communion with God I never feel it is wasted and I never find myself entrenched in fear. As I get closer to retirement age I am working to make better use of my time. Years of poor time management and bad habits don’t go away without hard work and constant change. Entrenchment is no longer a choice I can afford to make. I am moving forward until my time on earth is spent and I constantly remember…

Abstinence

Abstinence according to Dictionary.com is forbearance from any indulgence of appetite or addiction. Abstinence is also the state of being without a drug, or mood altering chemical such as alcohol, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, nicotine, sugar or any substance that creates a compulsive response. I had to learn what abstinence meant many years ago as an alcoholic/drug addict but as recently as a couple of years ago had to relearn the term abstinence with multiple addictions to food stuffs.

There are certain drugs that are addictive in all cases because of their chemical nature. There are other drugs that are addictive due to the chemical nature of the individual persons consuming the drug. Abstinence must be practiced no matter what the nature of the addiction. Although many may be immune to white flour, sugar, nicotine or caffeine when a food addict consumes any of these a chemical reaction creates a compulsive response. Abstinence is the only cure for addiction of any kind.

The reason these food allergies are much more difficult to remain abstinent from than other addictions is that one must eat. Most of the things I can’t consume seem to be prevalent in society. I not only must stay abstinent from common compulsive food stuffs; I must also remain vigilant of other substances that create a desire to eat beyond my feeling full. Abstinence is a daily practice for me today that I pray will eventually turn into a healthy habit and healthy lifestyle. If you think you may have things in your life that could use the practice of abstinence you merely need to remember…

Skepticism

I am often surprised at how skeptical people are about anything new. I am not sure what in a person’s life has created the need for skepticism. Dictionary.com defines skepticism as the doctrines or opinions of philosophical skeptics; universal doubt; unbelief with regards to religion, especially Christianity. Skepticism is a symptom of fear as is anything that separates us from God and our spiritual self. But skepticism isn’t the final blow that destroys people. It is the lack of action created by skepticism.
I may be slightly skeptical on occasion but my experience has proven that action will normally prove my skepticism erroneous. The older I get the less I know. It is because of this that wisdom is developed. Whatever seemed truth years ago is either been proven wrong or at least misunderstood. I do know that God is in control of all the universe and no matter what I may believe to be true or not is not my concern. I need to move forward carefully with action in the presence of skepticism.
To decrease my skepticism, I need to practice open mindedness and faith. I use my common sense, which continues to improve with experience tempered with spiritual awareness.  As I continue to pray and meditate the need to know decreases as I have high expectations of spiritual guidance. When I began learning reliance from God, my Ego would derail my efforts. I would share my experience with others, who would help me back on track and eventually my hope turned into faith and my faith turned into trust.  If you want to know where to start in dissolving your skepticism remember…

Maintenance

By the time a person has acquired a need to utilize my services as a metaphysical psychologist they are usually in need of extensive care. Once I have helped a person regain mental or spiritual balance I need to help them to build a maintenance program in order to keep from accumulating large amounts of negative thought. Many years ago the Fram Filter Corporation had a commercial that stated, “Pay me now or pay me later!” a statement showing the importance of maintenance.

Maintenance is described by Dictionary.com as to keep in existence or continuance; preserve; retain; to keep in an appropriate condition, operation or force; keep unimpaired; to maintain order. I think of maintenance as taking care of a problematic situation or condition on regular intervals instead of waiting until major problems develop. In the science of psychology, one must find and remove negative thought before it develops into a chronic condition. Minor mental debilitating habits unchallenged can develop into serious mental states.

I begin my day, maintain my day, and end my day by challenging myself to positive thought. I am constantly bombarded with old mental habits that I never seem to completely rid myself of. I work hard at being as God like as I can, knowing that I will always come up short of the perfect target. I prefer to set my positive goals high and come up short; I am no more satisfied when I set my goals low and meet them. I am made in the image and likeness of my Creator but I must try to mirror my Creator if I am to be a good example. If I want to know what I need to work on my maintenance will show me. All I need to remember is…
