About Randolph Ek

My name is Dr. Randolph Ek, Mpsy.D. I started life as one of five children of an alcoholic father. The physical and mental abuse nearly destroyed my life. In fact my self-destructive behavior nearly landed me in prison. I eventually was guided to an alcohol/drug counselor and he directed me to a rehabilitation center. Since that time I have spent more than thirty years devoted to helping people find their ultimate potential. We can blame our negative, spiraling life on victimization but until we accept responsibility the power we need is beyond us. When we accept our part in our lives and surrender to a higher power, which I choose to call God, intervention is immediate. God allows us to realize our true power. We are all made in God’s Image and Likeness and have all the power of the universe at our disposal. We are not victims; we are volunteers and once we believe this truth our lives become limitless. God wants us all to have our heart’s desire and he will deliver whatever we continually think about good or bad. Unless I start my day off powerless and humble I cannot make the spiritual connection required to tap into God’s limitless power. God loves mankind and refuses to leave anyone behind. We can go willingly or we can be dragged to salvation. Pain is merely a symptom of spiritual separation mind, body and spirit. Realize, your individual limited resources, seek help, join others in their quest for spiritual understanding. Realize that all religions are right, yet they are also incomplete.

Prejudice

Do you have any prejudice? Dictionary.com describes prejudice as any preconceived opinion or feeling, either favorable or unfavorable.  We all have prejudices, yet the Bible declares we should, “Judge NOT”. We are urged to come to God as children. If we watch young children we see that they live life with wonder and awe because they have not begun acquiring prejudices or opinions of good or bad. God is not all or nothing. God is all and nothing. Thank God, it was not necessary for me to get good enough for God or I may have never recovered from my bout with addiction.

So where does most of our prejudices come from? We live our lives and acquire experiences. Each experience teaches us something. So we apply our misguided judgment to all future experiences in fear of making the same mistakes we made before. The problem is that we never make mistakes. We only learn lessons. All lessons show us something new if we don’t apply prejudice. Prejudice pushes us away from a totally new experience by creating a fear of whatever may have happened to us in the past. The reality is that we can never experience the exact same experience.

The less I apply prejudice in my life the more dynamic and colorful my life gets. I may have the ugliest resume in the world with sixty jobs and seven careers. The truth is that I wouldn’t trade my life with anyone. I spent most of my life, prior to recovery, believing the people who judged me by their standards. I am satisfied with my life and it took every experience to guide me to God’s plan for me. I can see that it took every experience I had to properly perform the tasks God asks me to accomplish. When I work with clients I am challenged to look deep within myself and far beyond myself. If you want to know how to move beyond prejudice remember…

Treatment

As a metaphysical psychologist, I work primarily in the field of addiction recovery. A word thrown around a lot is the word treatment. Treatment, according to Dictionary.com, means action or behavior toward a person; management in the application of medicines, surgery. In the field of addiction recovery, I believe it is more specific toward a proven action plan. The most successful treatment facilities base their action plans on the spiritual treatment as practiced by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many other treatment modalities claim success but only Alcoholics Anonymous, and their spiritual foundation, has long term case studies sixty-plus years in the making.

I have been studying treatment modalities for over thirty-seven years and if the spiritual “angle” is not addressed, recovery, if any, is short term at best. Most addictions are multi-faceted, being that they are physical, mental and spiritual. Physically one must abstain from the substance of their addiction. Mentally one must find their negative principals, or what I call “slivers”, that irritate their mental abilities. Spiritually one must connect with a Power greater than themselves, other than a physical or human form. A God of one’s understanding is the best and most beneficial of powers.

If we put our lives in the hands of another, they are seldom much better than if they ran life by themselves. One can use a stable mind to lean on while one is healing but eventually one must find the power within other than their Ego. This is where I help people befriend their soul, which with proper prayer and meditation, will rise one’s thoughts to inspiration or intuitive thought. The knowledge I have achieved, along with the treatment I use from Alcoholics Anonymous, provides long term recovery from terminal addictive illnesses. If you want to know what treatment modality you should be following remember…

Cope

Can you live on life’s terms? How do you cope? Cope, according to Dictionary.com is to face and deal with responsibilities, problems, or difficulties, especially successfully or in a calm or adequate manner. Most people do not have the ability to cope with anything out of the ordinary as they were never allowed to think for themselves. You acquire common sense one of two ways, you either draw from your bag of tricks, learned through experiences, or trial and error, or inspiration and intuitive thought. Most parents prevent their children from learning life’s lessons in a selfish desire to keep their children safe or to not look bad as parents.

We must all learn to cope as the universe is in God’s hands and we must learn to cope or trust. The better I accept God’s will for me without having to take control the better I seem to cope. To cope is to accept life on life’s terms; accepting God’s plan as the only plan. Coping is a short step toward accepting a better life. I have worked diligently in acquiring an understanding of God that allows me to easily accept changes of plan and to cope. I live my life in compliance with God’s laws and live in constant meditation and prayer. This allows me to have very little to cope with.

To cope is a show of struggle. I am aware that I have no power other than the life force of God working through me and I give the world the best I have at any given time and am sure God is proud of my efforts. I am only responsible for my efforts as God is responsible for the outcome of all my actions. If my actions are positive the outcome will be positive and if my actions are negative my outcome will be negative. But even if the outcome seems negative and I don’t let up on my prayer and meditation God uses it to help me reach my ultimate potential. Psyche

Like most of the English language, there are several definitions for the term Psyche. I have to combine two definitions according to Dictionary.com. Psyche describes the mental or psychological structure of a person, especially as a motive force, including the soul or spirit. I believe that the psychological structure of a person exists in their mind, which is both a part of one’s DNA and a part of their integrated past lives. As a metaphysical psychologist I study a person’s family to understand a person’s Psyche. When I look for a person’s Psyche I need to look at a person’s family of origin from both roots. I need to know the Psyche of parents to have a true understanding of the child’s Psyche.

Most people never reach their purest Psyche. We are all blinded by the opinions of others. Most of us try so hard to be accepted by others we mold ourselves based on someone else’s Psyche. When we do not find our inner force, or Godliness, we fail to achieve our perfect spirit or Psyche. I am constantly asking myself if I am trying to satisfy myself or the people I love. It is socially acceptable to live for another, while losing oneself usually loses all associated with self. I love my family but I pray that they will love me for the man God and I are continually trying to find.

My Psyche is my highest self. It is a blueprint of my Godliness and it lies deep within me and is only found through selfless service and prayer and meditation. When I serve others I find my purpose as a child of God. God wants me to find him in my life and live that life loud and proud. When I am asked by those who see the passion and enthusiasm in my life I need only show them the course of action I have found that leads me to my Psyche and hold them accountable for finding their ultimate potential, which is their Psyche. If you want to know where your Psyche is remember…

Painstaking

In the book Alcoholics Anonymous is a statement, “If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are halfway through.” This is typically not painstaking about any phase of any development and wonder why we are not amazed. Painstaking according to Dictionary.com means taking or characterized by taking pain or trouble; expending or showing diligent care and effort; careful. I finish all my writing with, “Your Life is PERFECT! PAY ATTENTION!!!” It is not merely paying attention but also seeing life from a completely different perspective.

Painstaking sounds painful but actually painstaking is a steadfast awareness and a quickness to change direction if necessary. I am painstaking, which saves me painful results. I have said that I fired God as my janitor and rehired God as my scout. To utilize a scout one must slow their life down and learn to trust and communicate with said scout. Through constant prayer and meditation, I communicate with God. I ask for God’s help and take time to slow my mind down and listen for the guidance I have asked for. The more I pray and meditate the more I hear God and not my Ego.

With God managing my life I slow down my insane need to control. I don’t need to worry if I make a mistake as God is in control of the universe, I’m not. Through years of inventories I see that God has used all my actions, both positive and negative for my best interest. Being a metaphysical psychologist I find myself in people’s minds, where I most people might get lost and because I have had seven careers and sixty jobs, I casually meander through insanity finding the slivers of thought that must be resolved. If you want to know how to become painstaking in order to resolve chaos in your life remember…

Verge

Are you on the verge? Verge, according to Dictionary.com is the edge, rim or margin of something; the limit or point beyond which something begins or occurs; brink. There are many levels of success but only a small percentage are on the verge of a successful life. In music or other forms of art many have reached the verge of success. There are people who have never quite made their dream come true and others who, called, “one hit wonders,” were merely on the verge but never finished the job. I, as a writer know how hard it is to stay motivated to the fruition of a dream as there are many motivational necessities driving a true successful dreamscape.

For one to thrust themselves beyond the verge to being truly successful, they must first have a prominent dream. They must propel said dream with passion and well laid plans. They must stick to the plan, making mere slight adjustments, through thick and thin. I find myself explosive until I reach the verge and am misguided with mental chaff or distraction. I have many thoughts, both negative and positive that play on my success. It is the willingness and support of others that must propel us to our verge. Then we must regain new enthusiasm to push us to the top and beyond.

I had huge dreams and was certainly talented enough to achieve most of them but life got in the way. Things, other than my selfish dreams, got in the way, and my dreams changed. I have been successful in several areas and although my writing remains on the verge many other parts of my life have been very successful and rewarding. My life is full and my dream stays alive. I want to write a bestseller and hopefully I will live long enough to fulfill my dream. If it is vital that I achieve my writing dream and I don’t live long enough to finish it then I will return in another life to write again. If you think you have greatness inside you and are sitting on the verge, remember…

Stimulation

Do you live your life stimulated or do you trudge through life? Do you have plans and passion to drive you and stimulate you. Stimulate, according to Dictionary.com is to rouse to action or effort, as by encouragement or pressure; spur on; incite. Most people have something that stimulates them. Life is a long search for that stimulation. Life is difficult, if not impossible, without stimulation. It’s hard to get a greyhound to race without giving it a rabbit to chase. I have never met anyone who couldn’t credit their success to the object of their stimulation. If people are not stimulated they are normally driven by the stimulation of others in accordance with their plans and dreams.

Even before I found recovery from my addictions, any success I had was founded on some sort of stimulation.  I was always either being drawn through life with some form of stimulation or being chased from behind. We can either be drawn by some form of love or pushed by fear. As a young man I had no dreams so I was driven by fear. I started life off balance, barely surviving, even with much more expended energy than my current lifestyle. Fear motivates, but usually in a direction in opposition to God’s will for me. When I found recovery, I had a lot of work to do, to get on the right track. But with God’s help I found my heritage, latent talents and stimulation.

Today I have been reborn. I am stimulated by the knowledge that I am loved unconditionally by my creator. It is mankind and me that has set such high standards for me and my life not God. When I spend sufficient time and energy in prayer and meditation I find myself stimulated by simple things. I am stimulated today by serving others and treating everyone and myself with dignity and respect. I am stimulated by God through acceptance and admiration from the people I serve. There are seven point six billion people on the planet and we must all find our own stimulation. If you want to know what stimulates you remember…

Traditions

During the holidays do you ever wonder how all holiday traditions started. What was originally glorifying the birth of Jesus has become a commercial fiasco! Christmas is about everything Jesus stood against. More alcohol consumption, more family feuds, more heartache and sadness isn’t my idea of Christmas. Tradition according to Dictionary.com is the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc. from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice. There is a large percentage of Americans who believe that traditions unlike theirs are blasphemy. Then again differing opinions are the cause of all wars in history.

Black Friday makes one wonder, when did tradition overshadow good manners and serving each other.  I would like to see good habits like saying please, thank you, I love you, what can I do for you, you are special to me, become tradition and maybe go back to celebrating holidays according to their original meaning. You should see the funny looks I get when I say, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” It seems that the only time we aren’t arguing about religion is when we can all get something out of it. My wife and I quit gifting years ago. We give to each other twenty-four seven, three hundred and sixty-five days a year except leap years, which we truly enjoy as we can give more.

Most of my clients I need to convince that the gift is in the giving. I tried most of my life to fill my God hole with earthly things only to realize the hole had gotten bigger instead of smaller. When I started living my life for and with the guidance of God, my life became filled. I want for nothing. I am satisfied physically, mentally and spiritually. Sometimes I give to the point of resentfulness and have to take a break, which leads me back to giving. This has become my new tradition. When our world realizes that we are made in the image and likeness of God and our purpose is to give unconditionally as God gives, fear will disappear and love will mend all the problems we have created. If you want to know what traditions you could add to your life, remember…

Opportunity

Do you take advantage of opportunities? Do you know what opportunity is; what it looks like? Dictionary.com describes opportunity as an appropriate or favorable time or condition; a situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal; a good position, chance, or prospect, as for advancement or success. I tell my clients you can’t wait for your ship to come in at the airport. We may have an idea of what we want to happen but although we were given free will it must align itself with God’s will for our personal achievement. We must pray for God’ s guidance and meditate in order to listen for the guidance we have requested.

I have worked hundreds of personal inventories, dissecting my life into minute particles trying to separate the wheat from the chaff. In the inventory process I must be searching and thorough, moreover I must be fearless. Fearless is non-judgment. The only way I can remain fearless is to remove my judgment until the inventory is finished. When all the particles are down on paper I can evaluate the direction my life is going and see God’s handiwork. The greatest opportunities in my life, looked like problems at the time. People have been removed that stifled my growth and people were put in my life to teach me lessons.

Life is merely a classroom, whereas God’s lesson plan is personally laid out for me. I cannot judge myself against anyone if I am to find my personal spiritual journey. I am similar to some and different from others. We all have similar characteristics and yet in all the two hundred and five billion people who have cohabitated the planet I am the only me, with the only exact DNA. Opportunity is the ability to see God working in our minds and in our lives. The Bible says, “Judge not.” When you can see life neutral you are on your way, you are on your way to Nirvana. The best way to find your opportunity is to always remember…

Wish

Do you wish for things? Of course you do. We all do. A wish without action toward receiving it is a setup for depression. Wish according to Dictionary.com is to want; desire; long for.  We are treated with dreams or wishes in order for our spiritual-self to express to us it’s longing. When we wish we must follow it with action in the direction of the wish or desire. To wish and do nothing usually plummets us into negative feelings, which lead to negative mind sets and low self-esteem.

When we follow our wishes with action, even if we don’t achieve our wishes, we are normally given more information in the process to reenergize ourselves and promote even more action. When a motivated individual moves toward their wishes they seem to get all they need in order to achieve their goals. People who follow wishes with nothing never know the great feeling we get when we achieve results. I have both failed and succeeded in my wishful activity and because I love the feeling of success I am continually being given new intuitive thought.

We are made in the image and likeness of God and our wishes open us up to our need to conceive and meet wishful objectives. I have had sixty jobs in seven different careers. I tell people I was born with “WHY” tattooed on the inside of my forehead. I am continually driven to think, manifest and receive admiration from God. When I live out my spiritual heritage I am gratified with self-esteem and confidence. I know I am capable both from my successes and my failures as they are all part of the same whole.
