About Randolph Ek

My name is Dr. Randolph Ek, Mpsy.D. I started life as one of five children of an alcoholic father. The physical and mental abuse nearly destroyed my life. In fact my self-destructive behavior nearly landed me in prison. I eventually was guided to an alcohol/drug counselor and he directed me to a rehabilitation center. Since that time I have spent more than thirty years devoted to helping people find their ultimate potential. We can blame our negative, spiraling life on victimization but until we accept responsibility the power we need is beyond us. When we accept our part in our lives and surrender to a higher power, which I choose to call God, intervention is immediate. God allows us to realize our true power. We are all made in God’s Image and Likeness and have all the power of the universe at our disposal. We are not victims; we are volunteers and once we believe this truth our lives become limitless. God wants us all to have our heart’s desire and he will deliver whatever we continually think about good or bad. Unless I start my day off powerless and humble I cannot make the spiritual connection required to tap into God’s limitless power. God loves mankind and refuses to leave anyone behind. We can go willingly or we can be dragged to salvation. Pain is merely a symptom of spiritual separation mind, body and spirit. Realize, your individual limited resources, seek help, join others in their quest for spiritual understanding. Realize that all religions are right, yet they are also incomplete.

Perspective

It is interesting, how in our society, we can have a common experience with such varied perspective. The far left and the far right are so sure their perspective is correct that they are willing to exterminate each other. Perspective, according to Dictionary.com is the state of one’s ideas, the facts known to one, etc., in having a meaningful interrelationship. We must remember that in Zen Buddhism, it is said, “You don’t see the world as it is; you see it as you are.” I am guided by filters. The truth is that once we move away from our living in automatic we open ourselves to new information that will move us to the truth instead of our truth.

God isn’t a past experience or a future experience so we must not live in either of these perspectives. We must live in the now, open to spiritual inspiration. We cannot have a perception and allow ourselves to be guided by God. All my truths have allowed God’s generosity to bring me to my present and if I want to stay open to God’s grace I must live my truth, while staying open to new truth. It is faith in a power greater than myself that keeps me from relying on my own understanding. My past life, prior to finding my current relationship with my God, is a testament to my life and will in self-will.

My perspective today is based on a conception of God so large that it includes religion, science, history and most of all intuition. I continue to research all information that crosses my path. I do not look for God I try to gain perspective through my own experience, strength and hope. I have been blessed with a life that came to me. I used ideas, dreams, goals, wins, losses, success & failure to guide me toward my ideal life. God is constantly helping to mold my perspective and can only do it with my voluntary surrender. It is through surrender that my life has become great and not through any greatness on my part. If you want to gain new perspective remember…

Accountability

I have been saddened for some time now realizing the lack of accountability in the world. I have been an avid opponent to political correctness since its inception. Victimism is a lack of accountability. Accountability, according to Dictionary.com is the state of being accountable, liable, or answerable; or my definition of responsibility. Any part of my life I fail to be accountable for I stay powerless over. I don’t want to be powerful but I do want my life to be properly managed by God, and in this I must be accountable.

The more we hand our accountability over to others, the more power we give to whoever accepts our accountability. If I don’t accept accountability for my life, there is a good chance I will fail to rise above the adversity I face. We are made in God’s image and likeness and are required to be accountable for our actions. When I realize “I” failed, “I” and only “I”, can make the changes in my life that will lead me to my success. I would be farther ahead if, whenever I was part of a challenge, I always remained accountable no matter who was at fault.

We must quit looking at our government, our environment, our parents, our spouse, our friends or anyone other than ourselves in accepting accountability for our lives. It is good to be in partnership with others but we must never deny accountability for our part in the partnership. I often partner with others in an opportunity to achieve synergy or acquiring more together than we could have achieved separately. Equality means accountability. I inventory my life quite often and realize my accountability or lack of accountability by remembering…

Wrath

Have you been a victim of or instigator of wrath? Wrath according to Dictionary.com is strong, stern, or fierce anger; deeply resentful indignation; vengeance or punishment as the consequence of anger. The Bible uses the word wroth, which wrath finds its origin. All of our English language derives its origin from interpretation of languages. In my research and in my long following of Emmet Fox I find that the word wroth was used to describe God’s emotion, while God doesn’t have emotion as it is a human response to love and fear and God only knows love.

Wroth means God’s activity and not a word connected with anger, which is derived from fear. We are made in God’s image and likeness and are given free will. It is God’s will that we follow the plan we were given by God, which is embedded in our DNA. When we follow our Ego and move in a direction contrary to God’s will we resist God activity or wroth and anytime we resist God or universal energy there is resistance, therefore pain is involved. When we feel pain we may believe that this is punishment from God and actually it is merely God trying to draw us back into Its plan.

Wrath, according to our current vocabulary, is rage, rage is anger, anger is fear and God is not fear. Fear is the shadow created by our turning from the light or God. God is light. God is life. God is truth. God is love. God is intelligence. God is soul. God is spirit. God is principle. But God is not FEAR!!! It is this concept of God that is behind terrorism. It is this concept of God that has been behind every reprehensible act in our history. We must stop using wrath to dictate our understanding of God and get back to following God, which is found by remembering…

Dominion

Genesis 1:26-28 in the KJV of the Holy Bible states, “And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish in the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, of God created he him; male and female, created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Dominion, according to Dictionary.com is the power or right of governing and controlling; sovereign authority, rule, control. This is the essence of our responsibility of our planet. We should be constantly evaluating the health of our planet and making changes in any way possible to keep dominion over its health and welfare. If the environmental issues we face are not our cause, and are of natural or God caused, then we need only to do our best. We must constantly be monitoring our planet as it is the only one we will ever have. Our scientists may be looking for another home for us but no one reading this would live through the trip.

We must save our air, land, water, animals, plants, insects, birds, fish and anything that has life from extinction. Life is God and to allow anything on this planet to extinguish knowing there is a possibility we may in any way be responsible is disrespectful of God. To allow death is to cause death and we are held responsible to the degree we are aware of our part. There is a balance between the environmental terrorists and the greedy business person. The answer to all of life’s riddles are somewhere between the far left and far right. If you want to know how to have more dominion remember…

Comparison

A major issue I find with most of my clients is that they compare themselves to others. Compare, according to dictionary.com, means to examine in order to note similarities and differences; to consider or describe as similar. Most people are not aware enough of their own personality to know what they should be comparing. Twentieth century management use to say, “Find your flaws and conquer them.” Twenty-first century management says, “Find your strengths and hire out your weaknesses.

There are seven and a half billion people on the planet. It is believed that since the first human showed up on earth there have been two hundred and five billion people. Of those billions of people, no two of them have had the same DNA. We are all individual and unique. We share personality traits but we are each distinct. When I have no one to compare myself to I am able to move about in total freedom. I can learn to let instead of make. I can relax and find intuitive thought.

When I am not comparing myself to others I am free to be my ultimate self. I am able to reach my ultimate potential. When I am learning what is my natural self, the self God graced me with, I can relax and move forward with faith and confidence. When I even slightly compare myself with others I see flaws that don’t actually exist. Matthew 7:1&2 of The Holy Bible (KJV) says, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” If I want to know where I need to stop comparison I only need to remember…

Present

When I was playing golf today it occurred to me that I often play golf without actually being present. Golf is a game that requires extensive focus and to stay focused one must be totally present. Present according to Dictionary.com is being, existing, or occurring at this time or now; current; immediately. The mind can only focus on one thing at a time. When I have other things on my mind, my mind switches from one thing to another trying to solve all that it is given. When I stay focused on my golf game everything feels perfect and my game becomes satisfactory.

When I began in my quest for recovery I had so many unresolved issues I was lucky to isolate a few, let alone one. When I inventory my life and look for unresolved issues I dissolve my need to think about my past and am free to be in the present.  Today, I need to work persistently in staying in the now. Even when I am not plagued by my past, I have to work hard at being here, now. God can guide me with intuition but intuition only comes when I am in the now so if I am focused on yesterday or tomorrow I am going it alone.

Being present is my primary goal in life. When I am present God is available. God is always available, so when I am focused, intuition, inspiration and insight is also available. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” Imagination is a form of intuition and intuition can become a working part of the mind once we realize where it comes from and know that it is only in the now. God is present in the present. God knows that the present is the start of everything. If you want to know how to stay in the presence remember…

Godliness

Genesis 2:7 of the Holy Bible (KJV), it is stated, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” This declares that we are a piece of God. We are his breath. We are at one with him and without him we have no life. Life is being Godly. When I hear the word Christian I think Christ like and yet I have never met a Christian I would consider Christ like. So, becoming is probably the best we humans will ever achieve in trying to be Christ like or God like. Godliness therefore, is a practice more than a destination.

I practice living within a set of principles relating to God or Love. Patience, tolerance, helpfulness, gratitude, compassion, etc. are examples of spiritual principles. Giving one’s best in following spiritual principle is Godliness. When we fall victim of our human condition or Ego we lose sight of our Godliness and fail or sin. I prefer sin to be a stumble more than a fall. As soon as I recognize my separation from God I am alerted by pain and I immediately return to oneness and am brought back into the Garden of Eden and am surrounded with God’s love.

I may not be able to stay spiritually focused constantly, but God provided pain as a symptom of Godlessness. The longer I am free from all my addictions, the better I can stay focused on God and eventually meld God into all my human existence Through constant prayer and meditation I am guided by God to develop new spiritual habits that override my human habits. I learn to trust in God to show me how to find his way for me, which is my ultimate potential. If you want to learn how to find your personal map to the Garden of Eden remember…

Lengths

In the book Alcoholics Anonymous, page 76, Into Action, it is stated, “Remember, it was agreed at the beginning, we would go to any lengths for victory over alcohol.” It was this statement that has kept me poised for future growth as I continue to be willing to go to any lengths. Lengths according to Dictionary.com has many definitions but the one I am discussing is, extent in time; duration. Any lengths are 100%, limitless, boundless, unending. God has gifted me with over thirty-seven years of freedom from alcohol and drugs, which has given me an opportunity to relive my life; in turn I go to any lengths to find his will for me.

I wake up each morning and begin my day with prayer and meditation. I read out of seven different inspirational books, covering all the addictions I am afflicted with. I never walk out of the house with my own human thoughts. Starting the day with inspiration sets me up for intuitive thought throughout my day. I must go to any lengths, staying disciplined, in creating habits that bring me closer to God. It is me, closing the gap between God and me, that requires discipline, to any lengths. God is always giving me it’s all and for me to acquire my ultimate potential I must stay constantly committed to my spiritual self, while staying active in my human life.

If all mankind would stay focused on God or whatever they believe to be the ultimate energy in the universe, love would prevail and fear would dissolve. The Universe is God. It is only in our human condition and on this planet that we experience fear or what I call, “NOT GOD.” Fear is not real. Fear is an illusion created by humans through separating itself from God. It is imperative that we go to any lengths to stay focused on God and know his good for us in order to dissolve fear. We cannot separate God from us but we can separate us from God. If you want to know what lengths you need to go to in order to stay connected with God, remember…

Congestion

Many of my clients are congested with guilt, resentments or sadness. When people are congested, their lives become unresponsive. Congestion according to Dictionary.com is overcrowding or clogging. Just like our veins can get congested with plaque or fatty deposits and stop the flow of blood to vital body parts our mind can get congested with negative information and past unresolved experiences. We must continue to inventory our life and resolve our past in order to dissolve life   Anything we fill ourselves up with that do not have their roots firmly buried in love, decreases or terminates our Life Source or God consciousness.

We are both human and spiritual and these two conditions both need our attention. Matthew 6:24 of the KJV Bible states, “No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” The Bible also describes God as jealous. God’s jealousy is more of a statement that describes our life when we separate ourselves from God. Earthly things and experiences that separate us from our Soul is what creates the congestion that I am discussing. In metaphysics the acronym SIN stands for Self-Inflicted Nonsense.

The solution to our spiritual congestion, or our sinful nature, is proper understanding God’s nature. We could never describe God, but I can guarantee you that God is grace, or unconditional love. Humans have a conscience or a piece of God in them. This conscience tries to guide us in right thoughts and behaviors . But when we fail to take the Soul’s advice, feelings that our behavior or thoughts have violated God ensue. These feeling will resolve when we are truly sorry for our thoughts or behaviors, as God neither has nor harbors resentments. If you want to keep from becoming congested, remember…

Nirvana

I remember years ago when I first heard the term nirvana many mental pictures formed, whereas, if I truly reached nirvana no pictures would form. Dictionary.com defines nirvana as in Buddhism, freedom from the endless cycle of personal reincarnations, with their consequent suffering, as a result of the extinction of individual passion, hatred and delusion: attained by the Arhat, as his goal but postponed by the Bodhisattva. As in Hinduism, salvation through the union of Atman and Brahma. I believe Nirvana as being the place in life where one has totally turned their life over to God and as the Bible declares, “Judge not.”

When I can see life as perfect, neither over reacting in a positive nor negative way. I have reached Nirvana. When I see that God is both the Yin and the Yang; both the positive and the negative, I need not believe that I know right nor wrong. I merely move away from the things that block me from God and move toward the things that unite me with God. My feelings are for me to communicate with God as they are merely love and fear. Love is God and fear is not God. When I react to these feeling instead of merely utilizing them to rebalance my life I block God’s guidance. In fact, I begin playing God.

I was told many years ago that with my personality I may never know serenity; the best I may accomplish is burnout. What my friend failed to recognize is that God is in charge of the universe and burnout usually leads to surrender and surrender opens the line of communication between us and God. When I tired of burnouts I surrendered and turned my will and my life over to the love and care of God. Even before I offered myself to God, God worked in my life. Like a loving parent God has never left me or failed me. When we become ready to transform from our human nature to our spiritual nature Nirvana awaits us. Just remember…
