Temper

Do you allow your life to be tempered by adversity? Temper, according to Dictionary.com tempered, as I use it is a metallurgical process to reach a degree of hardness and strength imparted to a metal, as by quenching, heat treatment or cold working.  Life can equally temper us by bringing us hardness and strength through adversity and success. When I see my life as neutral, both good and bad having equal value in my life I can see God working in my life for good. When I begin to judge my life and the experiences I am offered I differentiate the good and the bad. It is seeing all that happens in my life as a blessing that allows my life to temper.

I am constantly inventorying my life and my experiences in order to appreciate my life and not judge. If God is in control of the universe and I am merely a player in the grand scheme of life, then I must accept all of my life as a blessing. I am grateful for all that I have experienced in my life: the loses; the gifts; the mundane and the excitement. I can see God’s DNA on all of my life. I can see how I have ridden in the front seat and been drug behind, based on my acceptance or not. God is in my life whether I am willing to play by the rules or not. The difference between allowing God to temper me or not is the determining factor in my pain.

My work with people has shown me that the strong have learned that their truth is within them and properly tempered by adversity, their pain is minimal. People who have not allowed God to temper them with love and understanding allow the world to own them and dictate their emotional wellbeing. I know that God has loved me every second of my life. None of my experiences were punishment, but were blessings. I use to be rigid and wishy-washy. Today I am firm, yet flexible. I am loved by people who know me and I love people who allow me to. Adherence

Do you have the discipline to adhere to a particular life process? Whatever your philosophy there are life processes that will bring you into alignment of your true self. Adherence according to Dictionary.com is the quality of steady devotion, support, allegiance or attachment. Adherence is a commitment. Most people can adhere to something for a short sprint but many cannot hold a course for an extended period of time. It is important to know that the only way to hold a course for an extended period of time is to follow your heart’s desire.

A person’s heart’s desire is not what they want, it is what God wants for them. Our heart’s desire is attached to who God want us to be. It can be found by finding our talents. We can take an employment inventory and see what we enjoyed and what we didn’t. Our heart’s desire will bring us satisfaction. I may have things I don’t like to do but I am willing to do them in order to do what I like to do. Most people are working for a paycheck and not for satisfaction. We must be satisfied if we are going to adhere to a long exhausting life process.

I have had sixty jobs and seven careers. I have liked parts of most of my jobs with only a few that were merely to get through a hard time. When I crawl into a client’s head I realize how I needed most of my past experiences in order to not get lost in the mire they are struggling with. I don’t know how anyone could be a good psychologist without the experience. I don’t think any classroom teaches enough to get through life. Trial and error mixed with science and art will make a person great. If you want to know how to adhere to a life process remember…

Decipher

Have you learned how to decipher your life? Do you inventory your life in order to determine what is an asset and what is a defect? Dictionary.com describes decipher as to discover, make out or interpret the meaning of something. When I inventory my life and look at it from a non-obscure position, I can make sense to it and decipher what God may have been telling me. It seems, through my understanding, from years of deciphering, that God first begins by whispering, then slowly raising its voice until it becomes a full vociferation.

At the end of each day I perform a quick inventory hoping to catch God whispering. Every few months I perform a complete, but specific inventory prior to a spiritual oration. Yearly I perform a full and broad inventory before God’s vociferation. In this process, not only have I learned to decipher my current experiences, but I have found buried treasure in past experiences. Experiences can often hold many lessons and life is going to keep bringing the lessons until they are learned. In this kindergarten called life we are held back until we can pass the exam.

I have done hundreds of inventories. I use the blueprint found in any of the twelve step programs as it is in working the twelve steps that awareness and freedom is achieved. The more unresolved experiences I remove from my subconscious mind the higher and more vivid is my consciousness. I have learned that along with constant deciphering of my life experiences, I must improve my conscious contact with God, which requires constant prayer and meditation. My ability to decipher improves as I partner with God, who is the source of the lessons. If you want to learn how to decipher your life, remember…

Help

When you need help, where do you seek it? Do you look vertically or horizontally? All help comes from God. It either comes directly from God, if one’s faith is strong enough, or it comes through people whose faith is strong enough. It is faith that opens the channel of wisdom, which is the hand of God. It is not God doing directly but it is Spirit through us or through others, through our actions, that help is achieved. It is people who pray constantly but do very little who whine about God not working in their lives. God does not move things, as we live in a physical world and God is a spiritual being, and needs us to partner with it.

God is a dynamic being and is available 24/7/366. God is always available to deliver us the help we need for it knows what we need, but our asking for help is like turning on the spigot to allow the spirit to flow. I pray constantly to keep the spigot open and change my prayers as my needs change. I must live in the now as God only works in the now. God does not change the past or the future but allows us to live in the now. All the billions of people on the planet are interconnected so we may not achieve our expected results as it may interfere with the overall plan for humanity.

I must keep my life simple. I must expect God to take care of me and not tell it how it should occur. I tell my clients, “Don’t wait for your ship to come in at the airport.” I know that God loves me and is willing to help whenever I need it so I pray in order to show my love and keep my mind and ears open for the direction I seek. God will only allow me to go in a direction that goes against God’s will for me if I insist with my arrogance. I pray for humility to know that God is the father and I am a royal child of a royal family. If you want to know where your help will come from remember…
