Maintenance

By the time a person has acquired a need to utilize my services as a metaphysical psychologist they are usually in need of extensive care. Once I have helped a person regain mental or spiritual balance I need to help them to build a maintenance program in order to keep from accumulating large amounts of negative thought. Many years ago the Fram Filter Corporation had a commercial that stated, “Pay me now or pay me later!” a statement showing the importance of maintenance.

Maintenance is described by Dictionary.com as to keep in existence or continuance; preserve; retain; to keep in an appropriate condition, operation or force; keep unimpaired; to maintain order. I think of maintenance as taking care of a problematic situation or condition on regular intervals instead of waiting until major problems develop. In the science of psychology, one must find and remove negative thought before it develops into a chronic condition. Minor mental debilitating habits unchallenged can develop into serious mental states.

I begin my day, maintain my day, and end my day by challenging myself to positive thought. I am constantly bombarded with old mental habits that I never seem to completely rid myself of. I work hard at being as God like as I can, knowing that I will always come up short of the perfect target. I prefer to set my positive goals high and come up short; I am no more satisfied when I set my goals low and meet them. I am made in the image and likeness of my Creator but I must try to mirror my Creator if I am to be a good example. If I want to know what I need to work on my maintenance will show me. All I need to remember is…

Envy

With all the people I have worked with I have never met anyone who isn’t envious. Envy according to Dictionary.com is a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities or luck. One cannot assume high quality esteem if they are yearning for belongings of another. We all have our own DNA thus are destined to our own life direction. To desire another’s possession is an indication of the direction one must move their life into in order to collect the possession in their own life. “Thou shalt not steal,” is a spiritual law that dictates one to declare one’s own rewards.

I was told in my early recovery, “Do not envy; copy!” I have been gifted with my life; a special gift from God. I need to look at my own talents and personality and replicate the actions taken by others in my own way. If we would put all our energy into becoming our true selves, the rewards would be far beyond that of others as it would be custom fit for each of us. Envy is a distraction if it is followed by anger, resentment, fear or doubt. When we are plugging along at a methodical pace we will see the presence of God in our lives and that in itself will arouse love instead of fear.

Many of the Ten Commandments are reflections of envy. We should first realize our true self through self-reflection, some form of personality matrix or counseling. Next we must look at our desires as it is God’s pleasure to give us our heart’s desire. Next we must make goals from our dreams and desires and build plans to guide us toward them. We must pray and meditate constantly in order to realize our path and make adjustments in our direction in order to achieve our ultimate potential. If we want to stop envy and realize our potential, we must always remember…

Illumination

Are you illuminated? The definition of illumination I want to talk about is intellectual or spiritual enlightenment. Another word I like to use is attention. The more you pay attention on a mental or spiritual plane the more you will be illuminated. God is light and illumination is the act of becoming God conscious. One must turn within as enlightenment or illumination cannot come from anywhere but within. We are all made in God’s image and likeness, which is spirit and one’s spirit or spiritual conception rests within each of us. Our individual message is written in us not outside of us.

Outside entities can help direct us on our internal search but none of our answers will be found outside of us. Our external world is a byproduct of our internal thought so when we look outside ourselves for illumination we see nothing new. When we try to accomplish external illumination through these means we find ourselves in a rut, usually in a downward spiral. Although at first following our inner voice can be sketchy at best with practice we find that our personal path is so unlike that of others we realize we will very unlikely find the exact information without our own trial and error. There are always trials but when the information comes from within the errors lessen.

Trust accelerates illumination. Trust is a byproduct of faith, while faith is action packed hope. We all must move our hope forward to improve our faith. This is not easy as the Ego works feverishly to dispel love through fear, worry and doubt. The outcome may not be what we expect but as long as we truly try to live a God guided life our lives will continue to be guided toward our highest good or ultimate potential. We should begin with the affirmation, “I am illumined”, then walk confidently into the light. We must study and research insistently. We are guided by light, towards light. All any of us need to remember in our search toward illumination is…

Terror

Having been intertwined in the recent attack at the Fort Lauderdale Airport I realized the broad stroke of life’s experiences. Terror according to Dictionary.com is and intense, sharp, overmastering fear. Terrorists methodically tap into our core human frailty, fear. The only way we can win the war on terror is to not allow it to consume us. I watched as people dug deep within themselves and found feelings to match the terror or raise them above it. I watched as people lent love and support to help each other in attempts to conquer terror.

There are only two feelings we humans have. Those two feelings are love and fear. In actuality there is only one feeling, which is love. Fear is merely a symptom of a lack of love. Fear can be as weak as frustration and as strong as terror but it is all fear.  When I shift and focus all my thought on God I am immediately transformed from fear to a perfect understanding. In this perfect understanding all illusion lifts and I see life without fear and illusion. In this spiritual state life is not what I have come to believe it, but a sense of comfort and love.

All is as it is supposed to be. God is in control and all is protected by love and grace. I may not always realize God’s grace but my illusions create fear, which guide me back to God. When my thoughts are on a spiritual plane I am content and capable of dealing with incidents that would have, in the past consumed me. It is God through me that allows me to overcome my illusion or fear. Through years of practice I tend to spend much more time in contentment and less in stress. My God consciousness is more automatic as I remember…

Renewal

Here we are at the beginning of a new year. New Year’s Day has always been seen as a point of renewal. I personally see my point of renewal in any next individual moment and absolutely no later than tomorrow. Dictionary.com defines renewal as restoring, replenishing, reviving or reestablishing. The key is to take stock in one’s life and decide what needs to be renewed. You can pray and meditate but it is us that needs to take the action and without a plan action causes as much problems as it might resolve. We must remember that God does not do to us or for us, but through us.

We must be constant in our assessment of our lives as this is an integral part in meditation. My primary prayer is for the guidance toward my ultimate potential as a spiritual being. What is my worth toward my family, friends and finally the world as a whole as we are all made in God’s image therefore all are related? If I want to be blessed with God’s idea of what my renewal might look like I must first evaluate my selfishness. God’s plan does not isolate me but does include me. What must I renew in order to better do God’s will?

To all my friends and family, I ask that you take the time to inventory your lives and determine what in each of us needs to be renewed to improve the world as a whole. If we are to improve the world at a mental or spiritual level, we must move forward in grace or unconditional love. If we want to bring forth our Godly nature, we must first open ourselves to Godly virtues. I can’t continue to live in fear, worry and doubt and call upon my soul to awaken as love is the only language it knows. If you want to know what your renewal plan should look like remember…
