Heritage

According to Dictionary.com heritage is something that comes or belongs to one by reason of birth. Most of us were taught to be loyal to a particular heritage. I am fifty percent Swedish so I was told to stay true to my Swedish heritage. All I knew about my Swedish heritage was we were all Vikings, which were merchants and robbers. They went east of Sweden and were very influential in promoting their lifestyle in what is now Russia. How all of this was to benefit me personally was never obvious but I did my due diligence.

I was later told that I was made in the image and likeness of God. This is my spiritual heritage and this I have found to be both interesting and beneficial. God is intellect and when I open myself to God’s influence my intellect expounds. God is creative and when I open myself to God’s influence my creativity has been exorbitant. God is love and when I open myself to God’s influence I find that I am not only loving but am love. When I open myself to God I become God centered and overcome by greatness.

No matter what your heritage, all of the earth’s inhabitants are made in God’s image and if they would all find their loyalty into that inheritance the world would have nothing to fuel their hatred. We must focus on our glaring similarities instead of our differences. If we would all live by God’s principals instead of life’s ambiguity, we would learn to love and accept one another instead of living in constant hatred. All DNA started with a single DNA so we are all related at both a physical and spiritual level. If you want to know how you can help restore peace in the world remember…

Health

Our average age at death is slowly being extended but at what cost.  It seems we are treating many diseases; with which we have no cure. We continue to treat symptoms but rarely treat the disease. We may be living longer but we are spending a fortune toward this end. How many of us would prefer to live healthier and do more until we are no longer capable? Health according to Dictionary.com is the general condition of the body or mind with reference to soundness and vigor, from disease or ailment.

The key to health is soundness and vigor. Many people consider themselves healthy as they take dozens of pharmaceutical products. they eat poorly, exercise very little and refuse to change their poor health habits. Good health requires discipline. One must watch what we eat, exercise regularly, read and question our ideas and philosophies. The brain is the master computer of the body and the art of thought is one we all must master if we are to be in maximum health. We must remove whatever works against our health.

One of the most neglected of all the healthy habits is prayer and meditation. When we make contact with the power within the universe we find our thinking will respond instantly. With God’s help we can achieve a mind that works on the plane of inspiration and perfect balance. With the brain working perfectly the information sent to all the body is also perfect. When the mind is performing at its best, it eventually, with good nutrition and exercise, can cure all disease. If you want to know what you may be neglecting remember…

Music

How does music affect you? Music according to Dictionary.com is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony and color. Music sets a tone and an atmosphere. Music generates such significant response that most people find themselves tapping a foot, humming or singing. People are wired to respond to different forms of music depending on their DNA, either actual or environmental.

I have been driven by music my whole life. As long as I can remember I have been easily moved by many forms of music. I used to listen to my father’s country music years ago. I moved into the music of my era, Psychedelic Rock, Rock and Roll, Blues and Bluegrass. I shifted to Disco and Funk. As I aged I relived my Rock years and recently I have fallen in love with Contemporary Country.  I even enjoy listening to Jazz and Classical. I am a music aficionado.

Everyone should have a specific time of the day to let music mold them. Find the music that crawls under your skin and controls you. Never get too old to love music as it is as important to human existence as food and oxygen. Music can help smooth the rough times and activate good times. Music doesn’t have to be loud but it has to rock your soul. Music has been important to society as far back as we have records and I am sure it will be important until our end. Music will help you remember…

Tolerance

Are you tolerant? Totally tolerant? Tolerance, according to Dictionary.com is a fair, objective and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, beliefs, practices, racial or ethnic origins, etc., differ from one’s own; freedom from bigotry. I think of myself as fairly tolerant but the farther from my opinions one gets the less tolerant I seem to be. In fact, the people I seem to dislike the most disagree with me the most. Not so funny how that is! Spiritual perfection, no matter how hard and long I work for it, seems to stay just out of my reach.

Tolerance, like grace, seems to be best achieved in God than the heart of man. Man has applied their own version of tolerance toward their belief in God in order to accept this character asset in a more diluted form. We have formed God in man’s image instead of striving for spiritual perfection. Most of us were taught that God is omnipresent (unlimited presents), omniscient (unlimited knowledge) and omnipotent (unlimited power) and yet we limit God. All seven and a half billion people on earth are God’s children and God is a composite of all of us.

I need to be interested in seeing flaws in my own beliefs in order to be tolerant of others. I must know that I don’t know to learn. I must realize that I have filtered all the facts that I have used in accumulating my knowledge and there is as good a case against what I know as there is in its favor. If I continually open myself to a higher good I must accept I am not yet there. If I am hungry for knowledge than I must not yet be satisfied. It is my constant dissatisfaction with life that I acknowledge my connection with God. It is my oneness with God that propels me forward in life. If I find myself intolerant I only need to remember…

Pets

This Friday my wife and I put our Royal Standard Poodle, Rocky, down. We purchased him from a breeder in Montana and had him shipped to Phoenix, Arizona nearly twelve years ago. Rocky was a great pet. He was gentle, kind, loving and incredibly intelligent.  The word pet, according to Dictionary.com, means any domesticated or tamed animal that is kept as a companion and cared for affectionately. Rocky was more than a companion; he was my best friend.

I had a couple of people say, “He was just a dog.” What makes pets so difficult to lose is that they love unconditionally. Man is not able to love unconditionally as we are supposedly gifted with reason, which produces judgment. We need to give our pets all the love we have merely to match their love for us. When I see a pet suffering from abuse I want to see the perpetrator punished equal to the pet they abused. The problem is that it is illegal to treat a human the way many humans treat their pets.

Many people say that when they die they want to come back as our pets. People should not own pets if they are not doing so to learn to love the way they do through the experience. We have had fish, birds and dogs and have treated them all as well or better than they would have been treated in the wild. I never want to treat an animal worse then my father in heaven treats them. God is tied directly to animals and I have learned a lot about God through my pets. If you want to know if you are a great ambassador to the pet world remember…
