Respond

Do you react or do you respond? According to Dictionary.com react is to act in response to an agent or influence, while respond is to react favorably. When I react I am normally doing so based on information acquired from past experiences, which may or may not be relevant.  When I respond I am normally doing so based on current information lacking past judgement. When I react I am normally living from my human nature and when I am responding I am normally living in my spiritual nature.

I would love to be able to live in the now constantly and learn to allow everything to be a new experience. When I am in learn mode I am open to anything and when I think I know I tend to react and not respond. I think the reason my Ego always thinks it knows is because it wants me to believe it is God. The funny thing is that when I live from my spiritual nature, knowing requires no argument. Reacting almost always promotes argument and responding is normally a statement based more in neutrality.

If I feel agitated it would be best to hold my tongue, although it is hard as my Ego wants to prove I am right. God owns the universe and doesn’t need to convince anyone of anything. When I can respond spiritually I need not say anything; in fact, I can usually humbly refrain from any further conversation. Any conversation I have while reacting is usually a conversation I will need to apologize for. I have learned to apologize but it is not a favorite pastime of mine so I continue to be better at responding. If you want to know where you can improve on your communication skills remember…

Being

Are you a human being or a human doing? Do you know enough about yourself to be comfortable with you? Can you just be? Being according to Dictionary.com is the fact of existing, conscious; moral existence; substance of nature.  Many of us have been brought up with so much negative browbeating that we spend our days contemplating what we need to do instead of learning to be who we are. I have done nearly three hundred personal inventories and most of what I have examined has been thoughts, feelings and behaviors not kindred to who I am.

I know today what my personality is according to dozens of personality assessments. According to the Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test I am an ENTP; Extravert (59%) (over introversion); Intuitive (44%) (over sensing); Thinking (50%) (over Feeling); Perceiving (6%) (over judging). You can test yourself at http://www.humanmetrics.com/personality. Some personality assessments have pages of science that provides us with our nature. Being is not what we have been taught to be, it is what we were meant to be. Our DNA is who we are, it is our being.

Being is a rich form of living. It comes with self-confidence, self-acceptance and incredible freedom to be without the constant need for acceptance. When you know who you are you merely need to be that and try to be the best you can be. When you are basing who you need to be on who you were meant to be you can’t help but be successful. You are you! You are not who others think you should be. You can’t build a skyscraper on a residential foundation. You will never meet your potential if you never take the time to find your being. The best way to start being is through remembering…

Allegiance

Are you allegiant? Allegiance, according to Dictionary.com is the loyalty or devotion of a citizen to his or her government or of a subject to his or her sovereign, or devotion to some person, group, cause, etc. Are you fully devoted to this country? Although you may not agree with the past or current leadership are you still devoted to a country that allows diversity? This country has been bouncing from extremes since it’s inception. If we don’t keep our allegiance to the United States primary, allegiance to anything else is of no value. Freedom must first be developed and solidified before allegiance to lesser causes can be accessed.

I am first allegiant to God and all that God has blessed me with including my wife and family. Secondly I am allegiant to my country for which I have been so blessed. With the freedom I have been given as a citizen of The United States I have true opportunity many people around the world do not have. The more I take time to count my blessings, the more allegiance I profess to my country. I love the United States. I may not love what happens in this country but I know that if I stand for what is right eventually God will intervene and provide what is best and right for us all.

We all have an opinion! If we did not live in a free country we would not be able to share our opinion without fallout. I am free to make mistakes and in the process I learn what I need to learn and my life continues to unfold. I served in the United States Air Force and the Montana Army National Guard. I have been on boards and committees. I have served at many levels according the needs and talents I could provide. Allegiance is not proven till service is rendered. As a recovering addict, I found it easy to talk and service not so easy. If you want to know if you are truly allegiant remember…

Submission

People don’t tend to be very submissive. People seem to believe that being submissive is a form of weakness and yet until we become submissive to God or some other altruistic  deity, we are all actually totally powerless. Submissive, according to Dictionary.com is an inclination or readiness to submit or yield to the authority of another; unresistingly or humbly obedient. I have learned to be submissive to God and in the process I don’t have to be submissive to anyone else. I find all my power in my relationship with God and we are self-sufficient.

We all know internally that we are limited. This awareness creates fearfulness. Our fear blocks our oneness with God and we manifest fear in all that we do. When we accept our need for God and become submissive to that power we become love and we manifest love in all that we do. The more complete our submissiveness the more complete our manifestation of love. When we become constantly submissive, our lives take on a new direction. We become constantly intuitive.

When intuition is a constant state of awareness we make good decisions. Even though our decisions may seem in error, our faith keeps us out of the way and we allow life to run on life’s terms. All our actions seem to lead us into new directions. These new directions take us to places that put us in a position of being of maximum service to God and our fellows. When we are submissive to God we are equal to all the lives on the planet; we treat all life with love, dignity and respect and we become one. To help us to become submissive we merely need to remember…

Reflection

A great life is a life drenched in reflection. Reflection finds flaws and strengths and allows us to make logical, conscious changes in order to be of maximum service to God and all of humankind. Great decisions are necessary in achieving our ultimate potential and to improve on our decision making skills we must stay reflective. Reflection according to Dictionary.com is a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration. Merely looking at ourselves and doing so with contemplative reflection is the difference between eating a meal and enjoying a feast. If I merely take an inventory of my life, the information at first glance may be deceptive, while honest reflection separates the wheat from the chaff.

Before my life was transformed, I made the same mistakes over and over again, banking on my luck changing. I am not sure how I expected things to change as I never made any changes. Now I live in constant reflection, opening my mind to new information. Much of the information I was brought up to believe as facts, has been proven to be false. Physics, nutrition, social values, morality and even politics have changed dramatically. If I didn’t reflect on my behavior, driven by my beliefs, molded by what I believed to be facts, I would not change my behavior. As a metaphysical psychologist, most of my time is utilized in helping people realize their faulty thinking and changing their thoughts and actions.

Live, reflect, change, repeat. This seems to be the way I live my life. With sixty jobs and seven careers, a failed marriage, years of substance abuse and treating people with a lack of respect I have had a lot of reflecting to do. This reflection has served me well. So well that I never subside in my practice of questioning most of my behavior. I don’t view my reflection with any consternation, I view it with wonder and awe. All any of us know is based on what we may have believed to be the truth but the truth changes so often there is always a need to oversee our daily lives. I cannot live in automatic. I must stay live a conscious life. To know what we may need to reflect on remember…

Average

Do you judge your life against averages? Do you judge yourself by the success and failures of others? Are you seeking to fulfill someone else’s dreams and ambitions?  Do you even have a clue to who your true self is? Average according to Dictionary.com is a quantity, rating, or the like that represents or approximates an arithmetic mean; a typical amount, rate, degree, etc.; norm. I remember thirty-seven years ago when I would have given anything to be average or normal and today it is the last thing I would ever want for me, my family, my friends or my clients. Actually I wouldn’t wish average or normal on anyone on the planet.

Average is an unreal vision as it is figured by adding everyone together and dividing it by the number of participants. When I am living “of the world,” or non-spiritual, it is all I have to compare to. When I initiate a spiritual life through humility, prayer and meditation, I find an inner calling that is personally chosen for only me. I am currently aware of my inner calling and live it to the max daily. I don’t try to understand it. I don’t try to develope it.  I don’t try to understand it. I just live it. I evaluate the external input of my environment and adjust accordingly.

Average is not a benchmark yet we have developed it as a way to evaluate our education, rewards, punishments, morality, etc. We are letting our society develop our morality, instead of our morality develop our society. We all know right and wrong as long as we are communicating with God. We know what we should and shouldn’t do before we ask anyone their opinions. We tend to associate the person we ask for an opinion with the opinion we are looking for. A spiritual life has no room for averages. We are all made individually and have a special calling. If you want to know what your calling is remember…

Apprehension

Apprehension according to Dictionary.com is anticipation of adversity or misfortune; suspicion or fear of future trouble or evil. If you live your life with apprehension you are not really living. If perfection is your aim, you will never hit the bullseye.  As perfection is of God, making it a spiritual component of life, apprehension is not compatible as it is a component of fear or not God. When one spends sufficient time in the practice of prayer and meditation, one finds faith and confidence, which dissolves apprehension.

If we are performing with any level of apprehension, we cannot compete with people who are moving with faith and confidence. Apprehension, by its nature, slows us down and makes us susceptible to all the traps that fear creates. One can find a degree of confidence in many ways including experience and great support, but nothing is better in building confidence than a spiritual connection with God. We were made in God’s image and likeness so the more perfect we visualize God the more perfection we are capable of.

I have heard people say that a certain amount of fear is good. I cannot agree with this statement. Although a certain amount of apprehension is normal to the human condition it is not acceptable. The more fearless you make your life the more you will achieve. Although I know that I will suffer apprehension on occasion, it will never be acceptable for me. I am constantly trying to improve my confidence with continued personal inventories and constant prayer and meditation to get the insight only faith can deliver. If you want to know where to find your apprehension remember…

Meek

In all my years of religious and spiritual examination the line in the Bible that has never made sense to me has been, ” Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the Earth.” As a metaphysical scholar I have found clarity in this and many other statements in the Bible. Dictionary.com defines meek as humble, patient or docile, as under provocation from others, overly submissive or compliant, spiritless, tame, gentle and kind. None of these descriptions of a person’s personality would I think God would want to lead his people.

Although many of these definitions of meek would be possessed by one of God’s warriors, there must be more too meek that we are seeing. I believe that meek means malleable or open to spiritual direction. When one knows they don’t know they become humble, but humility without spiritual connection is not a positive character asset. It is the spiritual guidance that creates trust and through trust we can walk through life with a greatness that many see as arrogance but is the highest form of esteem.

Once we can humble ourselves with or without spiritual help, we become open to direction from God and we are blessed with greatness and it is this greatness that allow us to ” inherit the Earth!” I spent many early years of my existence in an ignorant state of arrogance. Once defeated by life I surrendered to God and God’s plan for the universe. My surrender provided me with humility, which opened up my superconscious mind and connected me to God. If you want to find your meekness remember…

Sharing

Do you share? Do you share anything or everything you own? Do you partake in sharing with others? Share, according to Dictionary.com, is to use, participate in, enjoy, receive, etc., jointly. The human race has become so interested in owning things that sharing has become a thing of the past. It is true in the physical world that things divided are divided yet in the spiritual world things are indivisible. God can give its all to each of us without dividing. With the idea of indivisibility sharing is a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

There are seven and a half billion people on one planet. There are enough raw materials on this one planet to see that everyone has everything they want. If we did not fear lack, there would be no lack. To fail to share is a symptom of fear and lack. i don’t give anything to someone who should get for themselves but I always willing to share as I know there is plenty for all. Believing in abundance creates abundance. Believing in lack creates lack. It is God’s job to fulfill our heart’s desire, which is whatever we believe.

I love to share. I share my time. I share my property. I share my love. I even share my problems and fears. I was told years ago that if we share our joy, our joy is doubled and if we share our problems our problems are divided. The main reason I share is that it brings me into a true understanding of God. As I am made in God’s image and likeness, the more I act in accordance with God’s wishes the more I feel a part of God. I have spent the last thirty-six years working on a conscious contact with God and now I am working on a constant, conscious contact with God. If you want to know what you should share remember…

Drive

I just returned from a hog hunt in Texas. The hunt was quite successful until the last day when my son-in-law lost his father to a massive heart attack. He was on the hunt with us after having had several heart attacks in recent months. He might have even been a bit dishonest about how well he felt in order to have his son bring him on the hunt he had dreamed about for years. He fulfilled his bucket list at a high risk to his health. I applaud his actions as I too leave my death in God’s hands while keeping my life in mine.

Do you have drive? Are there any dreams you have that are so clear and large that you are driven to a high risk? The truth about life is “NO RISK; NO REWARD”. If the length of your life is more important than the quality of it than it is driven by fear and not God. I have been driven my whole life. Before I was rewarded with my new life I was driven by fear and today I am driven by love. I love my life and am always looking for new opportunities for me, my family and anyone else who is interested in riding along.

One is not really living if one is living in fear. Being driven by love and God fills me with wonder and awe; the two emotions that God rewards me with. I am driven to know God and the universe God has rewarded me to experience. My life is a result of courageously moving forward through fear knowing that fear is merely an illusion that dissipated upon confrontation. Find your drive by losing your fear. Pray and meditate for God’s direction and care. If you want to know what drives you remember…
